Pre-Departure Checklist
Before you travel to Australia, there are a few things you need to consider.
Use this check list to ensure you have a smooth journey on your way to Adelaide.
Many travel requirements have now been removed or relaxed, though it is important to confirm the most up-to-date information directly on the following Australian government websites:

You will need a valid, active visa to enter Australia.
For most international students, this will be a student visa . If you do not yet have a valid student visa, you will need to apply for a new visa before travelling to Australia.
Commencing students
If you are a commencing student, you will receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) when you accept your offer. You can then use your CoE to apply for a student visa.
Please note visa processing times on the Department of Home Affairs' website and ensure that you will have enough time to apply for your student visa and travel to Australia prior to your program start date.
Continuing students
If you are a continuing student, you will need to obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from the University that reflects the length of your program.
- Check your visa status on the Department of Home Affairs' Visa Verification Entitlement Online (VEVO)
- If you need a new student visa, you may need to apply for a new CoE
- You can then use your CoE to apply for a new student visa
Please note visa processing times on the Department of Home Affairs' website, and ensure that you have enough time to apply for your student visa and travel to Australia before your program start date.
If you will be arriving for the start of the Semester or Trimester, ensure you book a plane ticket that will allow you to attend any Orientation sessions prior to the commencement of your program. You should also factor in any quarantine time you are required to undertake.

When travelling to Australia, we recommend bringing printed copies of your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and visa grant notice in your carry-on luggage. With these documents, you will be able to prove your enrolment and visa status if you are asked by Immigration officers at the airport.
Most Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policies do not include dental or optical services. As such, these services in Australia can be quite expensive, and so it's a good idea to get yourself checked before coming to Adelaide.
Clothes
Make sure you pack clothes for the time of year you're arriving. Adelaide winters are wet and cold (average daily maximum 16° Celsius, minimum 8° Celsius), while the summers are hot and dry (average daily maximum 28° Celsius, minimum 16° Celsius).
At Australian universities, there is no dress code. Most students wear casual clothes on campus; for example, jeans, t-shirts, shirts, sweaters, blouses, and sneakers. However, you may also want to pack some more formal clothes and any traditional cultural clothing for special events.
Electronics
If you're bringing your laptop and phone, remember your chargers! You should also bring any necessary travel adaptors and voltage converters for your electronics. Australian power plugs are likely different than your home country, and the voltage also may be higher. In Australia, the standard voltage is 230V, and the frequency is 50Hz.
